Order your Free 2007 Calendar on-line

Yes, like every year we have a free calendar 2007 available for all our clients and relations in the metals industry. Its fresh colors orange and blue, with all activities at Vulcaanhaven shown on the calendar will daily remind you of who to use best for your day to day business!

Dutch economy eyes consequences of hectic elections

With the annual growth figure for the Dutch economy presently at 2,6% Holland is still looking for conclusions and consequences after the surprising outcome of the elections in November. With the sitting political parties having underlined again and again that the economy and boost is largely due to the followed policies over the past 4 years, the left wing parties, all loosing ground apart from one, tried to counter with weak arguments.

The most surprising outcome is the substantial loss of the Labour party, the win of the Socialist party and the right-winged newcomer Wilder Group gaining 9 seats, coming from 0. Holland is facing long discussions on a future coalition.

Fenex Conditions

For many years Fenex conditions apply when working with Vulcaanhaven. A copy in your language (NL/EN/FR/DE) can be sent to you upon your request. For clients it is very important that they are aware of the consequences of these conditions when dealing with all major warehouses and forwarding companies in Rotterdam, such as Vulcaanhaven. We refer to these conditions on all our invoices and correspondence.

Port of Rotterdam maintains growth

The Port of  Rotterdam is doing very well. Authorities announced that the first nine months showed an increase of 1 ˝ % in comparison with the same period in 2005. Overall 281 million tons were handled. Bio fuel and fruit juices were largely responsible for the growth. Seeds and grain decreased by 15%. The container handlings increased once again after a slow spring period to a record amount in September only of 840.000 containers.

Autumn prolonged, winter postponed.

Vulcaanhaven is well know to run her terminal as a tight ship. We spend a lot of time on maintenance and presentation. Showing our guests how we are and how we feel about our business. In the picture you see that early December Autumn does not want to leave us yet, at least not at our terminal.

Creating a working environment that is business like, but friendly and presentable at the same time. A picture says a thousand words...

Customs Corner: Changes ahead?

Please consult us for your questions related to fiscal representation and/or customs formalities. End year, quotas could become available for clearance into the EU  w i t h o u t  paying import duties.

Please check with us on the procedural arrangements. With our fully automated customs systems we are able to provide you with up to date information, available at our finger tips.

Joke of the month – Kevin's experience...

Kevin walked into a sportsbar around 9:58 PM. He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV. The 10:00 news was on and one of the items was a story of a man on a ledge of a large building preparing to jump. The blonde looked at Kevin and said, "do you think he'll jump?"

Kevin says, "Yes, I bet he'll jump"

The blonde replied, "Well, I bet he won't"

Kevin placed $20 on the bar and said, "You’re on!"

Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy did a swan dive of the  building, falling to his death.

The blonde was very upset and handed her $20 to Kevin, saying, "Fair is fair. Here's your money." Kevin replied, "I can't take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5:00 o'clock news and knew he would jump"

The blonde said, "I did too; but I didn't think he'd do it again."

Kevin took the money...

spartaSparta Rotterdam leaves the bottom of the league!

With victories over ADO The Hague, Willem II, NEC Nijmegen and a huge surprise win over Ajax Amsterdam (3-0!) Sparta has left the bottom of the league and in touch with teams above them.

With creative, attacking soccer and technically skilled players, Sparta remains great fun to watch at any time, always playing to score a goal. The Stadium "Kasteel" can handle 10500 spectators and with an average each home game of 9000, Sparta enjoys the sympathy of the area.

Rightfully so. Great atmosphere, no escalations. A stadium you and your kids can go to without any problem. That alone is an achievement these days... So check www.sparta-rotterdam.nl
